Easter Boarding

It turns out that our last snowboarding trip of the season was Easter weekend. It was fun trip, even though we didn't get much snowboarding done. Cecile and Tom already posted about this weekend. We spent all day Saturday at the Alpine lodge, waiting for the winds to calm down. It was still a fun day, because we passed the time playing Settlers of Catan.

Daniel, Cecile and I spent the night in Reno at the Silver Legacy and enjoyed a great buffet (would have been even better after a full day of actually being on the slopes...) and various bars and entertainment. Little did we know that meanwhile in Tahoe it was snowing over a foot a fresh powder. yay! Driving back into Tahoe the next morning was a pain, as road conditions were getting worse by the minute. I've really started to appreciate the all-wheel drive of my Subaru by now - it handles really well and stays on the road despite ice, slush and snow.

Once we got to Alpine it became quickly clear that the lifts would remain closed because of the snow storm, but we were able to pick up some discounted tickets for Homewood, which is a tiny but protected resort right at the lake. The snow was fantastic (sometimes even too much) and it kept snowing heavily all day long (must have been at least another foot of snow). Homewood was ok for the day, but there are only a few runs and the chairs are old and slow and broke down several times during the day. I'll spare you the gory details of our trip back home. Let's just say that I really appreciate my car now.

Dood, what's wrong with you? There is *no such thing as too much snow*... unless you get run over by an avalanche, I guess. Thanks for blogging and allowing me to enjoy the slopes vicariously. F
