Epic

Snow conditions in Tahoe last weekend were absolutely fantastic. Don't take my word for it - Kodiak and 6sous both agree. Unfortunately, a snow storm usually means that driving to Tahoe is a real pain and subject to long delays when going over the pass. Anthony, Helen, Cecile and I decided to stay home Friday night and drive up early (very early) the next day. Best decision ever - the streets were empty all the way, and so by the time I was slowly getting awake, we were already past Sacramento.

We met everyone else at North Star. I don't care much about North Star - the mountain is pretty flat and the tickets are overpriced. The only advantage is that it is a little bit better protected against strong winds. I shouldn't complain too much though - the snow was so awesome, we could have boarded anywhere. There were about one or two feet of fresh light powder everywhere - even on the groomed runs. Anthony, Florian, Morten and I spent most of the day in the trees on the backside.

My alarm clock right before hitting the road Saturday morning
(yes, it's AM)

It's good getting rewarded for waking up early ;)

We were a really large group this weekend. Florian found this huge and very luxurious cabin in Truckee, including a rainforest style shower, a pool table and two large screen HDTVs (not that we would watch any tv). It's great to hang out and relax by the fire place after a day on the slopes.
