Netflix
Cecile, Anthony and I decided to sign up for Netflix and I'm pretty stoked about it. I used to buy quite a few DVDs, but more often than I would like, the movie wasn't really worth buying. Plus, with HD-DVD and Blueray emerging, it's becoming apparent that my good old DVDs are already a dying format.
Enter Netflix. For a monthly fee you can get up to three movies at any time. Once you're done, just send it back and they'll mail the next one from your online list.
So far, I'm really impressed with the Netflix interface. It is easy to find movies of interest and the recommendation engine suggests movies that make me wonder how it could possibly know my taste so well. Another cool feature is that you can create separate queues. You can have up to three queues that are treated individually. That way we don't have to worry about ordering one queue so that picks from different people are somewhat equally served. Instead, I just load up my personal queue, which will only send the next movie, when the previous one from my queue is sent back.
I'm still in Seattle, so no real world experience with the whole Netflix thing yet, but I'm told that my first movie should be waiting for me when I get back tomorrow. :)
